Plastic Waste Free Islands

The ''Plastic Waste Free Islands'' project funded by IUCN started from December 2019 and ended in April 2022 with an aim to tackle the issue of plastic waste leakage in Cyprus and find solutions to decrease ocean plastic pollution. Together Cyprus partnered with Cyprus Sustainable Tourism Initiative (CSTI) to create a scalable blueprint based on evidence and information provided by local stakeholders - governments, businesses and target communities of the island (e.g. tourism and fisheries) to develop and demonstrate solutions to reduce plastic waste.
