Plastic Waste-Free Islands

This ongoing program first started in 2019 and was developed in full synergy and cooperation with the Cyprus Sustainable Tourism Initiative. The primary goal of the project was to reduce plastic leakage on two islands in the Mediterranean, Minorca and Cyprus by improving the dissemination of information and knowledge on waste generation and by strengthening the adoption of measures to reduce plastic spills from the tourism, fisheries and waste management sectors. Since then, the program is also responsible for thre creation of 4 Plastic free beaches in Cyprus.
